Check Out the Benefits of a 10 x 30 Storage Unit for Five Bedroom Home

At Storage West, we offer home storage units of all shapes and sizes. Perhaps the most impressive is our largest unit, the 10 X 30 storage unit. This unit offers a huge amount of storage space. Even if you are packing up a five bedroom home or storing an RV, you’ll appreciate the spacious layout.

How Big of a Storage Unit Do I Need?

Still, you may wonder how big of a storage unit do I need. This is only natural since there are a variety of sizes. Basically, if your furniture and belongings could furnish a five bedroom house, this 10 x 30 size unit is for you. It may be tempting to get something smaller like a 10 x 10 storage unit or even a 5 x 10 storage unit, but these are much too small.

On the other hand, you may ask how big of a storage unit do I need if you are worried about it being big enough for everything you want to store. Our units have tall ceilings, expanding how much space you have for items that can be stacked. Remember that you need less space than the actual home because you will be packing things close together.

You can fit many large items as well as boxes and other belongings in the 300 square feet of space in a 10 x 30 unit. If you park a vehicle in it, you can still claim up to 100 square feet of personal storage.

Here’s a short list of the many things that our customers use their 10 x 30 unit for:

  • Multiple beds, mattresses, and box springs
  • Tables and chairs
  • Large appliances, including washers and dryers
  • Large and small boxes
  • Plastic bins
  • Filing cabinets

Organizing Your 10 x 30 Storage Unit

There is a trick to packing a 10 by 30 storage unit, and it starts when loading the truck to move. You should load the boxes first and then the furniture. It should end up that the bulky items are near the door.

This arrangement will help you load the unit correctly. In a storage unit, the furniture should go in the back. Then you can stack your boxes in front.

As you add the boxes, make sure you leave a path. A front-to-back walkway will make it easy for you to access items throughout the unit. It may worry you to give up the space, but trust us, you’ll still have plenty of room even if you do this.

The items that you’ll need to use more frequently should be stacked toward the front of the unit. Labelling all of your boxes will ensure that you can find what you need when you need it, especially if you stack the boxes with the labels out so you can read them.

If you need packing supplies prior to your move-in date, we have boxes of all sizes, bubble wrap, packing tape, and furniture pads for your convenience. You can also get free use of our move-in truck when the big day arrives!

Adding a Vehicle to Your 10 x 30 Storage Unit

As stated, this space is so large that you can even store a vehicle in it and still have up to 100 square feet of personal storage space around it. If you plan on doing that, you will want to park it in front or to the side of your other belongings. If necessary, you can move the vehicle out of the way. That’s a much easier plan than moving boxes to get to your car or RV.

We have clients who store cars, SUVs, trucks, or boats in our 10 X 30 units. It’s a safe, convenient way to store a vehicle that you won’t be using for a while. Since it is out of the weather, safe from wandering animals, and secure from vandals, your vehicle will be in good condition when you’re ready to use it again.
