Vegas for the New Year

So you want to be in Las Vegas for New Year’s?

Celebrating New Year’s in Las Vegas is unlike anything you can ever experience. You may have visions of Times Square in your head with the hundreds of thousands of people flocked together to celebrate the coming year; but Las Vegas adds to that New Year’s celebration with extravagant shows, incredible concerts, and fine dining. Plus, even with last minute plan makers, you can still get to Las Vegas, catch a show, see a concert, eat a great meal, party like its 2019, AND still make it back to work the next day!

Last Minute Las Vegas New Year’s Ideas

All of the family members have gone home from the Christmas get together, and that’s when the idea hits you; let’s celebrate NEW YEAR’S in LAS VEGAS. Don’t panic! With Las Vegas, there is no such thing as LAST MINUTE for anything; you may have to pony up a little more cash, but you will be able to find whatever you need. First things first, GET HERE! Plane tickets are going to be higher because of the short notice and the holiday but it might just be worth it. If you are close enough to drive here, expect a little traffic. You are not the only one coming into Las Vegas from out of town, the roads will be busy.

Find a Hotel Room

Once the idea pops in your head and you decide to come to Las Vegas for New Year’s, it is best to book your room BEFORE you get to the airport or in the car headed this direction. Rooms will be filling up fast and you don’t want to be that person walking the Strip with their suitcase with no room to stay in. Using any of the available room search apps or websites might help. Rooms off the Strip are starting at $200 a night and the closer you get to the action of Las Vegas, the MORE expensive rooms will get. If you are wanting to stay where the party is, be ready to pay for the experience; available rooms on the Strip and on Las Vegas Blvd are maxing out at around $900 a night, and that’s for a basic room, not the suites.

Magic, Comedy, or Stage Shows

Even on New Year’s Eve, you will be able to catch some of the finest shows that Las Vegas offers. There are various comedy shows you can catch with showings at several of the Strip hotels. There are also different Cirque du Soleil shows playing on New Year’s Eve like Beatles LOVE, Zumanity, Ka, and Mystere; each of them totally unique. Las Vegas icons David Copperfield and Blue Man Group have show dates on New Year’s Eve, with early enough show times to catch before the action later that night.

Musical Artists and Concerts

Want to go to a concert and see some of the BIGGEST musical acts in the world? On New Year’s Eve, musical acts Maroon 5, Gwen Stefani, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, Living Colour and Imagine Dragons all have concerts that evening, with start times from 7:30pm, ending before the midnight party, giving you plenty of time to get to the Strip for the New Year’s countdown. Most of these concerts are held at venues within walking distance of the Las Vegas Strip, putting you in close proximity to all the New Year’s festivities.

New Year’s Eve celebrations at the club

If for you Club venues in Las Vegas are the hottest places to be; New Year’s Eve will have plenty of options for you when 2019 shows up. Omnia nightclub at Caesar’s has Calvin Harris New Year’s Eve bash, while 1 OAK nightclub in The Mirage has Lil’ Jon’s New Year’s Eve party. Hakkasan nightclub at MGM Grand will have J.Cole hosting a New Year’s celebration, while JEWEL at the Aria will have Tyga and his New Year’s Eve event. Be sure to get your tickets as early as you can, and expect lines, long lines.

Fine and Extravagant Eating

One of the absolute BEST THINGS about Las Vegas is the dining experiences to be enjoyed on and off the Las Vegas Strip. There are way too many restaurants to list on this post, but here are some to research on your own. A big hint about securing a spot at these places to eat, especially on New Year’s Eve is to BOOK YOUR RESERVATIONS ASAP! Some of your favorite Food Network personalities have restaurants in Las Vegas. Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis, Guy Fieri, Robert Irvine, Emeril Lagasse, and Mario Batali to name a few. Each of their restaurants offers extraordinary cuisine, each with different menus, and each with their own flair and style. Gordon Ramsay from Hell’s Kitchen has STEAK, a steakhouse at Paris, a pub and grill inside Caesars Palace, BURGER at Planet Hollywood, a fish and chips eatery at the Linq, and the infamous Hell’s Kitchen in front of Caesar’s Palace. Each of his restaurants offers completely different types of cuisine and elegance. With each of these restaurants, make sure to BOOK RESERVATIONS!

Shopping for the BIG DEAL

After Christmas shopping is a MUST at the North or South Premium Outlet malls in Las Vegas. Each mall is in close proximity to the Strip, and each gives you the best deals on name brands you know and love. A little closer to the Strip is the Fashion Show Mall, across from the Wynn. This mall is bursting with high end apparel stores and gifts for everyone. More glitz and glam for you means shopping at the Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace. Inside you will find the highest brand name stores and retailers for those that really know how to show out. Of course there is shopping all up and down the Las Vegas Strip; take a quick walk, you will find everything you need.

Las Vegas Desert Weather

One expects Las Vegas to be 100 degrees out and blazing hot but this year we are in a bit of a cold spell. Days will be in the 50’s and lows in the 30’s. Pack accordingly. Don’t feel bad if you show up here in Las Vegas wearing shorts and a tank top, you won’t be the only person to make that mistake. Bring a coat, wear a sweater, bring gloves, wear underclothes; it’s ok to be dressed up while you are inside the restaurant or show or club, but wear what you need to stay warm.

Security to STAY SAFE

During the BIGGEST celebration of the year, there are rules and regulations for safety and security that need to be followed while on the Las Vegas Strip. New Year’s Eve rules go into effect from 6 a.m. on Dec. 31 to 6 a.m. Jan. 1. During this time no strollers, no carts, no backpacks or purses larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches are allowed. No glass containers, no coolers and no ice chests will be permitted. There will be LVPD Metro everywhere on the Las Vegas Strip, if you see something suspicious, let them know. Be safe and have an AWESOME 2019!
